The practice is carried on under the title of avocat à la Cour, granted in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and is entered on the roll of the Luxembourg Bar Association, which is the supervisory authority for the profession.

Applicable professional rules

Practice is governed by the amended Law of 10 August 1991 on the profession of lawyer, by the Internal Rules of the Luxembourg Bar Association, and by the Code of Conduct for European Lawyers. These texts are available from the Bar Association.

Professional indemnity insurance

The firm is covered by the collective professional indemnity policy taken out by the Luxembourg Bar Association for the benefit of all lawyers on its roll, the premium for which is included in the annual Bar subscription.

The risks are underwritten by Amlin Corporate Insurance SA (60%) and Bâloise Assurances Luxembourg SA (40%).

Territorial scope. Cover is worldwide from the practice established in Luxembourg. It excludes the jurisdictions and laws of the United States and Canada, save for advice on Luxembourg law given from those countries where the claim is brought in Luxembourg and governed by Luxembourg law.

Professional secrecy

The firm is bound by professional secrecy as provided by law. It covers all information that comes to their knowledge, including where no instruction follows an initial consultation.
